NTA 8133:2021 defines the performance, testing, and marking requirements for extinguishing agents and portable extinguishers suitable for lithium battery fires. The standard replicates a thermal runaway event using six Lithium-Ion 4S pouch cells, assessing an agent's ability to: Rapidly extinguish active battery fires within three minutes of ignition. FIREBULL AB extinguished flames within the first 16-20 seconds on each test. The Enforcer AIR 3 provided an additional 40 seconds of spray time to cool and prevent rekindle. Prevent re-ignition during a 20-minute monitoring period, and Preserve at least one set of cells with at least one of the cells in the set maintaining 3.7 volts post-extinguishment. FIREBULL AB preserved two sets of batteries in one test and preserved three sets of batteries in the second test.

“We’ll mount systems of 10, 20, 30, through 60 gallons on a rollout tray, and if the department wants, we can make the smaller systems mobile,” Turk says. “Some departments choose to mount their CAFS on top of the rescue and run the hose down like they would a cord reel. Most departments don’t want to give up a lot of space, so they choose either the 10- or 20-gallon CAFS system.”

It was not long after Marathon Pipe Line (MPL) delivered a grant to the East Fork Fire Department (EFFD) in Rush, Kentucky, near the West Virginia border, that the all-volunteer department was able to put the investment to good use. In February, hard-to-fight wildfires quickly spread across the rugged terrain of Central Appalachia, putting the people and places they call home in jeopardy.
“Wildfires pop up quickly but getting to them quickly and with the proper equipment is another story,” said EFFD Chief Joe Childers.
Tyler Johnson with MPL presents EFFD Chief Joe Childers with a check for $5,000 to purchase the CAFS.
In the summer of 2022, Childers submitted a grant proposal through Marathon Petroleum’s community investment program to purchase a CAFS, or a compressed air foam system, used in firefighting to deliver fire retardant foam for the purpose of extinguishing fire or protecting unburned areas. Not only is it easily transported – in this case, aboard EFFD’s all-terrain vehicle – it’s safe for the environment.

When covering rural areas, the typical vehicle may not be sufficient for the incident at hand. At times we may need to use our imagination to complete the task. Letting our imaginations run wild prior to that incident will help when that incident arises. It is not common for a fire department to approach its councilmen or trustees for the need of a side-by-side ATV. However, there can be a need if the demographics align.
Peebles Fire Department covers Meigs Township, Oliver Township, the Village of Peebles, and the foothills of the Appalachian region in Ohio. A few years back it determined it would need a low-profile, short-wheelbase type of vehicle. Luckily, the department qualified for the ODNR firefighter property grant. This allowed it to obtain a military grade Razor for next to nothing. The only stipulation it had was to be in service within six months.

“It was just another day on the farm, baling hay under the summer sun,” begins Wesley, recounting the harrowing experience that unfolded on his family’s Montana farm in late July 2022. “Suddenly, my father-in-law saw flames in the field behind him. Without hesitation, he dumped the hay from the baler and turned the tractor around to fight the blaze.”
The fire caught up to his baler quickly, threatening to consume it. “My father-in-law, a lifelong farmer, had never used the Enforcer® 10 before. I had only shown him how it worked once after we installed it,” Wesley continued. “But in that critical moment, he remembered everything. He rushed to the front of the tractor, activated the Enforcer 10, and within seconds, the fire on the baler was out.”

One option to get the most out of your brush unit is to utilize the Enforcer 60 skid unit. When building a brush truck we tend to want it to remain light due to the distinct possibility of going off road. We also want the ability to make the most impact without needing to return to refill. Refilling times allows the fire to continue to grow.

Testimonial for Enforcer 10 and FIREBULL AB:
I would like to take this opportunity to write a quick response about your product and how it performed. On September 25, 2025 our department was dispatched to a residential house collapse with 2 people trapped. I had just put your product together and had it in my Chief's truck and responded to the incident. Once on scene we had to deal with 2 people trapped in 2 different locations under the rubble of this collapse. We had live wires and a smoldering fire that was in a difficult place to reach. This fire was starting to intensify and the fire hose did not seem to be effective due to not being able to maneuver this line in a confined space.
I activated the Enforcer 10 model that was in my vehicle and due to the small size and easy to maneuver hose line, we were able to get the line into place to extinguish the fire. This product proved to work very well and no doubt helped stabilize the incident so victim rescues could occur without fear of fire.
I wanted to take the time and recognize this product as being a game changer under difficult conditions. Please let your team know that the work and product they are putting out does indeed provide life saving benefits.
